Having an empty laundry basket is the best 5 seconds of the week.
Ok, let’s be honest, having laundry folded and put away the same day is one of the best feelings. I don’t know about you, but I have no problem placing my laundry in the washer and dryer, but once it comes out, it used to just collect in our collapsable baskets on top of the dryer. I would walk by the laundry room and some days feel overwhelmed because it just looked cluttered.
If you know anything about me, which there is a chance that you don’t, I cannot handle clutter. My decor style is often seen as minimal and I often donate things if I realize they are just sitting in storage.
I knew that our laundry room had plenty of space and potential for what we needed, but with only one wire rack hanging above the washer and dryer, it just was not working for me, so I removed it and got to work!
I wanted to update this space with minimal cost, but still wanted to make a visual and functional impact. I decided to find a neutral wallpaper and add simple chunky shelving with large bold brackets. To ensure the space was still functional, I wanted my decor choices to be usable items. I also wanted to add more interest with texture, so I found these woven baskets to mix with metal ones at Target. The larger baskets at the top hold items that I don’t use as frequently as those on the lower shelf.
This room due to its layout and lighting is not an easy one to photograph, so I tried to grab images from all angles. The space now stays MUCH cleaner and organized. I also love the folding table that we built over our washer and dryer which allows me to fold clothes as I take them out of the dryer and place them in the basket for an easier (but still not enjoyable) putting away process.
